Franck de Winter
After completing his study Business Informatics at the Amsterdam School of Business in 1993, Franck he has been working in the IT branch. Object orientation and client-server were the buzzwords those days. Franck started focusing on database technology right away, and has now 25 years of experience in working with all the various aspects of SQL Server. He has migrated highly sensitive datasets, implemented automated management of SQL Server farms, collaborated in true Object-Oriented applications, designed, built and implemented High Available SQL Server platforms at a broad variety of customers. Some examples: the Dutch Parliament, the High Counsel of the Netherlands, G-Star RAW, ING Bank, etc, etc, etc.
At this moment Franck is focusing on performing Azure Migrations of SQL Server databases at the European Headquarter of Nike inc. Besides that, Franck is very committed to the Agile framework, which is implemented at Nike at the same moment.
Specialties: (Azure Cloud) migrations, SQL Server Databases, Powershell, Performance Tuning, Speaking, Advising, Education, Training.
André is a DBA and Data Platform Architect for Data Masterminds. Over the years he has managed literally thousands of SQL Servers and so he discovered his love for automation, especially through Powershell. He is a major contributor to the popular open source Powershell library dbatools, a Microsoft Data Platform MVP for SQL Server, chairman of the Dutch SQL Server user association, and closely involved in the organization of SQL Saturday Holland & Techorama Holland.
“The role of the traditional DBA is changing. Where we used to write our backup scripts ourselves, we now use a lot of scripts from the community. In retrospect, however, this has been a small step that has barely been able to prepare us for the DevOps movements that we nowadays see. Our work looks different in a very short time, very different.
“Automation is King, the new language of the DBA is Powershell!”
But what does that mean, how do we have to adjust our processes and methods? And above all, what do you as an organization need to do to make all of this possible, and why? In this interactive session we discuss a step-by-step plan that organizations can use to transform their DBA (team) from Gatekeeper to Facilitator.
Specialities: Powershell, Architecting SQL Server Solutions, SQL Server Databases, Building & Tuning, ETL (BiML), Speaking, Education, Training, Data Platform MVP, Organiser of SQL Saturday Holland.
